This course examines the challenge to top management presented by a new or expanding business. Students learn decision making for an organization experiencing growth and change. Topics include organization planning and strategy in a competitive environment. The student is asked, from the point of view of the senior manager, to integrate and apply the knowledge learned in accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior, etc., to develop a comprehensive strategy for a firm that can lead to competitive advantage and high performance results.

Day 1Meet in Madrid

– Welcome orientation: Our staff will greet you at the residence in Madrid.

– Take a walking tour of Madrid. You will see:

– Lecture on the CIS: Dive into the Spanish corporate world, learning about everything from organizational decision-making to marketing to human resources. Learn how Spanish’ culture impacts its business practices – and vice versa.

– Business visit: Get a 1rst-hand look at business practices during your visit to a local company.

– Optional Activity: Visit to the Reina Sofia Museum

– Take a guided walking tour of Dublin. You will see:

Day 4Dublin

Visit to Google headquarters: Google’s expanding presence in Dublin significantly strengthens the capital city’s international reputation as the technology hub of choice for leading innovators.

Visit to the IDA offices: IDA Ireland’s main objective is to encourage investment into Ireland by foreign-owned companies.

Day 5Dublin

Participate in a design thinking workshop

Visit an Irish business and learn about local business practices

Day 6Madrid

– Lecture on the CIS.

– Business panel discussion: Learn and ask questions about Spanish new business models as you engage with a guest speakers.

– Optional Activity: Visit to the Prado Museum

Day 7Day Trip to Toledo

Business visits: Spend the day at two British companies, gaining insight into how they run their workplaces.

Day 8Madrid

Lecture on the CIS.

Business panel discussion: Learn and ask questions about Spanish new business models as you engage with a guest speakers.

– Optional Activity: Visit to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium

Day 10Paris

Arrive in Paris
Take a walking tour of the Latin Quarter

Visit the Louvre

Day 11Paris

Take a guided tour of Paris

From some students is time to pack the suit-case and go back home with incredible memories, for the ones who are taking a new class, the day is off and we’ll meet again during the night for a delicious VSA group dinner.
